Another feat of organisation took place, again in Exeter Cathedral, on 15 November 2008, when Exeter Festival Chorus and Exeter Philharmonic Choir sang together in an ambitious programme of difficult and exciting 20th century works: the South-West premiere of John Adams’ Harmonium and William Walton’s epic work Belshazzar’s Feast. Also performed by the Devon County Junior Choir was the premiere of A Sequence for Devon, Andrew Millington’s settings of six short texts.
Nigel Perrin conducted Harmonium, and Andrew Millington took over for A Sequence for Devon and Belshazzar’s Feast. We were delighted to have Alan Opie as our baritone soloist and The Sinfonietta, Leader Richard Studt, as our orchestra.
