About the EFC
Our choir takes pride in being adventurous and innovative. To this end we plan our programmes to give local audiences a stimulating mix of works within the established choral
repertoire together with music that reaches out into the less well-known and the contemporary choral scene.
This is our continuing commitment to putting on concerts of exciting choral music, performed to the highest possible standard under the dynamic musical direction of Nigel Perrin,
one of the country's leading choral conductors.
Founded in 1993, we are a non-professional award-winning choir which sings regularly with professional orchestras and soloists. In the last six years we have premiered the following contemporary works in the South West: David Fanshawe's African Sanctus, Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man, Karl Jenkins' Requiem, Paul Patterson's Millennium Mass, James MacMillan's Seven Last Words From The Cross and Will Todd's jazz mass Mass In Blue. Other features in the life of the choir are community-orientated activities, including choral workshops and fund-raising concerts for charities.
Building musical bridges between countries through music in joint projects with overseas choirs is becoming a regular feature of the choir's life. Future plans include tours to France in 2009 and Russia in 2010.
